MUM'S COOKING IS THE BEST!
I THINK NONE BEATS MY MOM'S
when her old classmates aunties gang gather....they will sure pester for her popiah....
when her emigrated pals returned..sure equipped with pots and pans and asked her to make for them...pots and pans u know..
and they would give her boxes of bird's nest for her effort...her popiah is shiok...and me will be her only disciple...hahaha....;9)
Among other food, meesiam....
her meesiam gravy...power man...just power!! the sambal that accompanies it...hmmph..hmmp...mo tak teng!
nasi lemak....my goodness!! i dun think people know the meaning of lemak!! and sambal...
a good nasi lemak is the rice and the sambal chilli...the rest are secondary....
her laksa is a DIE DIE GOTTA TRY....shiok!!....the gravy can just be drunk as soup...so so shiok and fragrant!
her timsum is out of this world...but she hesitant to make cos' very very troublesome. she learned it from the late TAM RUI KAR.....the head of the 4 heavenly chinese cooks in singapore.
she also learned many cantonese cuisine under TAM.....and for those who really dine canto style...RED STAR, DRAGON PHOENIX, YAN COURT..and another one which i forgot belongs to this 4 heavenly cooks.....
then there is her steam yam cakes, pumpkin cakes, her yam beehoon.....the ter kah chor or vinegar pig trotters with ginger. this one takes like weeks and weeks of soaking before the ginger absorb all the essence of this dark soy sauce dish. the gravy is damn sourish devilishly shiok and fragrant. the scent just linger inside ur mouth...damn damn shiok...makes u wanna eat an extra bowl of rice along with it....
so so many.....i hope to master everything and take over from her....hahahaha.....;9)
