THE STORY OF ZI YEAN

once a upon a time, at block 172, stirling road, there was a guy who was damn good cook. he started zi yean. for convenient sake, let's all him ah yean.
this old guy was a very kindly man, a great chef and very honest in his business. u know, his fried rice was really paradise! and only at $2.50. his congee was superbly smooth. depending on what u order, it ranged from $2.50 to $4 for san yu or toman fish porridge...
business was bustling everyday. he opened it for 24hrs. all taxi uncles loved to congregate here during the dead hours. boy! the business was damn damn good!
even eric khoo also came here to film his 12 STOREYS.
later, the residents there complained....i think it was from those landed private home owners. they were a very actsy and stuck up breed.
bo bian! ah yean would have to stop his 24hrs business but closed shop at about 11pm. still business flourished as ever.
his HU PEI HAR or prawn wrapped in soya skin was shiok!.... $2/pc...really big prawn, mind u!
his fried noodles varieties were all very very economical. other places sold like $3 to $4, he sold his at only $2.50 and he didn't stinge on the ingredients...just as many if not more that those more expensive one.
nightly there would be queues after queues. all the tables were occupied.
ah yean being a nice chap employed a bitch from matland. jenny was her bitchy name. this bitch was the spark that ignited this whole STORY OF ZI YEAN i m writing now....

PART 2

the bitch jenny was foxy. she was very chatty and friendly. business improved even better with her around. but slowly she was up to no good.
she flirted with most of the chefs doing the cooking. ah yean now as more relaxed as he had thought all the younger chefs well.
suddenly one fine day, the MOM raided the restaurant. caught a number of PDMM or pei du mamas there and a number of illegal mei meis too who were suppose to be studying students and not part time waitresses....
ah yean was fined terribly. as if this wasn't enough, not long later, all the chefs resigned enmassed! jenny had instigated them cos she craftily started a restaurant of her own in the nearby block at mei ling st market hc.
she even got the audacity to call it JENNY'S ZI YEAN SEAFOOD. zi yean pronounced in cantonese means zhi ran or natural....
and the boss, ah yean was shocked and blurred. he couldn't believe that he treat the chefs so well and trained them in his tutelage..and that bitch jenny , she was from matland. he even helped her to got her pr...and now she turned the table and bit the kind hands that fed her...THIS BLOODY BITCH!!
and so be it....the business of zi yean continued. but it was not as good as the past. ah yean himself was getting old and feeble. but he still ran the business at a much slower pace. anyway, the food like deteriorate. maybe he was so so disappointed that his heart wasn't there with his cooking anymore.
as for the bitchy jenny...well, her business prosopered. in less than a year, she drove a grey mercedezs and was full of pride. but her cunningness got into her once more.
JENNY'S ZI YEAN SEAFOOD was very good cos all the chefs were trained by ah yean and now being bought over by this bitch.
and this bitch's shrewdness and greed knew no bound. she kept stealing cooking technique from the chefs. i used to love their BEEF NOODLE IN TAO SEE or fermented black beans...damn good! and cheap only $4.
later, after a couple of months, i went there to order my favourite beef noodle. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!...rather bland and tasteless!
i asked the waitress there. she told me all the chefs were sacked by jenny. she was doing most of the cooking now. NO WONDER IT WAS HORRIBLE....
i asked further and was told this bitch jenny wanted to save money so she stole their technique and sacked the whole lot of chefs.
and now do u know what happen to JENNY'S ZI YEAN SEAFOOD?

PART 3

THE food from JENNY'S was indeed getting from bad to worst...and soon no one wanted to eat there.
she finally sold her mercz at at a terrible lost and wound up the restaurant owing mountains of debts...
serve her right, dun u agree?
A BITCH WHO SHREWD TOO MUCH, IN THE END SHREWD HER OWNSELF TO SUFFERING.....
back at 172, stirling road, ah yean himself was also facing hard times...then out of the blue a HUNAN guy came. this is the new owner of ZI YEAN where everyone now is praising for their food.
he offered ah yean a certain sum and bought over the name....cos ZI YEAN has gained quite a reputation for good food for value for money fame.
HUNAN, let's just called him that, was himself a great chef. he worked for a reputable hotel. now he ventured out on his own and set up ZI YEAN SEAFOOD....a name he bought from ah yuan.
soon that block was marked for en-bloc by the bloody hdb. it was being demolished now. the new ZI YEAN thus shifted to JLN TIONG in the very old hdb estate quite near to BT MERAH SECONDARY SCHOOL...
u can take the mrt to REDHILL STATION, drop, cross over and walk a couple of steps. see JLN TIONG , turn left walk up the slopy road, u will see the bright yellow signboard of ZI YEAN...
go in the morning before 11am. they have special timsum set at only $3.80. there are a few combination. i go for the set D which serves with the handmade noodle in cha jiang rou or mince pork and a varieties of timsum. SHIOK! GOOD! CHEAP! AND REALLY JUST NEXT TO THE ROAD!!
yue phee, yue chiee, yue koon lor phee!!...but sorry...no toa liap nee (big mi mis...hahahaha....;9)
very shiok!! if u order this after 11am, its cost is $3.80 by itself.
anyway even after 11am, the timsums are still worth the money...very freshly made...again i love to order my favorite BEEF HANDMADE NOODLE...the gravy is so so shiok...the beef comes with soft texture and superbly seasoned
what happen the ah yean??....
well, he stil cooking...he got to live what. where to get the money?.....u think all the ah lau like me...so lucky to strik 4D and totos....
HUNAN allows ah yean to continue using ZI YEAN. he operates now in block 165 coffeeshop. but business is really so so only.
at this block, u will find the super WAN TAN MEE...but be prepared to wait like half an hour for ur plate of dried noodle. very very good!! the char siew is roasted on the spot. the soup base is derived from soyabean and salted fish bone.
u eat this, u can forget about the sickeng FEI FEI WAN TAN MEE which only dyed their boiled pork and the soup...so so only. some more must use the noodle bowl to go collect...like beggar like that...and hell man!!...so so the soup...;9(

hope u learn something and like it..so so only the story...hahahaha...;9)
